The Kenton Wildcats battled through a five-set thriller on August 20th to defeat Waynesfield-Goshen, winning 27-25, 25-15, 15-25, 17-25, 15-12. The Wildcats came out strong, taking the first two sets, but Waynesfield-Goshen rallied to even the match. Kenton held firm in the deciding set, pulling out a 15-12 victory to clinch the match.

Sidney Payne powered the Wildcats at the net with 17 kills, 9 blocks, 14 receptions, and 12 digs. Rileigh Barnt added strength at the net as well, finishing with 8 kills and 5 blocks.

In the back row, Ady Osborn anchored the defense with 7 receptions and 14 digs, while Adrianna Rogel added 8 receptions and 9 digs. Emori Criner provided a steady all-around performance with 5 kills, 9 points, and 11 digs.

Kenton’s setters kept the offense running smoothly—Kylie Searson tallied 18 assists, 11 digs, 9 receptions, 11 points, and 2 aces, while Kaiden Gammon added 15 assists, 12 points, 5 aces, 2 blocks, and 4 digs. At the service line, Brayla Butler sparked momentum with 4 aces, 9 points, 3 kills, and 8 digs.

The Wildcats’ balance of attacking power, defensive hustle, and serving pressure proved the difference in securing the five-set victory. Kenton improved their record to 3-1 and will host Bellefontaine on Monday.
