Kenton City Schools is pleased to announce a strategic leadership transition designed to maximize district efficiency and support the evolving needs of its administrative team. Brett Purcell, who has served as the District’s Athletic Director for the past 7 years, will transition into the newly created role of Operations & Facilities Manager, effective August 1, 2026.
In this new capacity, Mr. Purcell will provide dedicated oversight to several high-priority areas, ensuring the district’s recent investments in facilities continue to serve students and the community at the highest level.
“Leveraging Brett’s exceptional organizational skills and practical knowledge of district operations in this new role is a significant win for the district, ensuring high-level oversight for our facilities and operations.” said Chad Thrush, Superintendent of Kenton City Schools. “This role provides the district with a specialized coordinator to manage our complex operational and facility needs. His hands-on experience as our athletic director has enabled him to work with every department in the district and makes him uniquely qualified to help lead our operations moving forward.”
As the Operations & Facilities Coordinator, Mr. Purcell’s responsibilities will include:
- Performing Arts Center (PAC) Leadership: Managing the daily operations and scheduling of the PAC, recruiting outside performances, and coordinating with the Music Department and local sponsors.
- Capital Planning: Developing and executing a long-term Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for all district buildings to ensure structural and mechanical longevity.
- Facility Support: Coordinating vendor contracts, budget management, and logistical partner to building leadership to ensure seamless operations and premier facility standards across the district. Serves as the district “point person” for all outside groups requesting facility use.
- Athletic Grounds & Logistics: Supporting the management of competition surfaces, troubleshooting specialized turf equipment, and coordinating seasonal maintenance.
- Technology & Transportation: Partnering with the IT department on hardware infrastructure and assisting the Transportation Supervisor with fleet logistics and safety compliance.
With Mr. Purcell’s transition, Kenton City Schools has officially opened the search for a new Athletic Director. The district is committed to finding a dynamic leader who will embrace the deep community support and local pride that serve as the heartbeat of Kenton athletics.
