Brayla Butler Leads Kenton Varsity Wildcats Past Cory-Rawson Varsity Hornets

Brayla Butler collected three hits in six at bats, as Kenton Varsity Wildcats defeated Cory-Rawson Varsity Hornets 17-9 on Wednesday at Cory-Rawson Local Schools. Butler hit a home run to right field in the sixth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the second inning.
Kenton got on the board in the top of the first inning after Butler singled down the right field line, Alexis Ratliff doubled down the left field line, Kaylee Barlow singled, and Aubrey Kavanagh grounded out, each scoring one run.
The Wildcats added one run in the second after Butler singled down the right field line and added one run in the third. Butler grounded out, making the score 6-3. Four more Kenton runs crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 16-6. Butler homered to right field, scoring two runs, and Kylee Kavanagh doubled, scoring two runs.
Kavanagh earned the win for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking one. H Hamilton took the loss for Cory-Rawson Varsity Hornets. The hurler went seven innings, surrendering 17 runs (14 earned) on 16 hits, striking out five and walking seven. Ratliff appeared in relief.
Kenton accumulated 16 hits in the game. Butler, Lyla Gammon, and Ratliff each collected three hits. Emori Criner and Peyton Rudasill each collected multiple hits. The Wildcats had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Criner and Kavanagh led the team with two walks each. Butler, Gammon, and Ratliff each stole multiple bases. The Wildcats ran wild on the base paths, tallying nine stolen bases for the game. Kenton turned two double plays in the game as well.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats welcome Spencerville on Friday for their next away game.
