Kenton Varsity Wildcats Secure Win Against Elgin Varsity Comets

Kenton Varsity Wildcats took down Elgin Varsity Comets 11-6 on Saturday.
Elgin Varsity Comets jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Cobra Jackson doubled, scoring two runs, and Melody Hicks singled, scoring one run.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Brayla Butler homered to center field, and Kylee Kavanagh singled down the left field line, each scoring two runs.
A double by Jackson gave Elgin Varsity Comets the lead, 5-4, in the top of the second.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Elgin Varsity Comets committed an error, and Peyton Rudasill flew out, each scoring one run.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats dropped a third strike, which helped Elgin Varsity Comets tie the game at six in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth, Kenton Varsity Wildcats broke up the tie when Lyla Gammon singled, scoring one run. Then a double by Rudasill followed to extend the lead to 9-6.
Rylee Woodruff stepped in the circle first for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The righty surrendered seven hits and six runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking three. Mallorie Hempy led things off in the circle for Elgin Varsity Comets. The hurler surrendered five hits and six runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats accumulated 10 hits in the game. Butler, Alexis Ratliff, and Rudasill each collected two hits for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. Butler, Kavanagh, and Rudasill each drove in two runs for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. Kavanagh stole two bases.
