Fourth-Inning Burst Enough To Lead Pleasant Lady Spartans Past Kenton Varsity Wildcats

Pleasant Lady Spartans defeated Kenton Varsity Wildcats 9-3 on Saturday thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning.

Kenton Varsity Wildcats got on the board in the first inning after Brayla Butler singled, scoring one run.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats took the lead in the top of the fourth. Kaylee Barlow hit a solo home run to left field, to give Kenton Varsity Wildcats the lead, 2-1.

Pleasant Lady Spartans flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Davis that drove in two.

Davis homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Pleasant Lady Spartans.

Faith Staley earned the win for Pleasant Lady Spartans. The starter surrendered two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out 11 and walking two. Kylee Kavanagh took the loss for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking two.

Barlow provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Kenton Varsity Wildcats with two runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Butler and Barlow were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Kenton Varsity Wildcats while hitting back-to-back. Barlow and Aubrey Kavanagh each stole multiple bases for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. Kenton Varsity Wildcats stole five bases in the game.

Kenton Varsity Wildcats play at home on Monday against Wapakoneta in their next game.
