Kenton Varsity Wildcats Defeats Ridgemont Varsity Gophers

Kenton Varsity Wildcats beat Ridgemont Varsity Gophers 7-6 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the sixth when a passed ball scored one run.
Rylee Woodruff collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Woodruff singled in the fourth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
A ground out by Ella Manns put Ridgemont Varsity Gophers on the board in the top of the first.
Ridgemont Varsity Gophers added one run in the second. Addison Coy doubled to left field on the seventh pitch of the at-bat, making the score 2-0.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth when Kaylee Barlow was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Woodruff singled, scoring two runs.
Ridgemont Varsity Gophers took the lead in the top of the fifth. Brilynn Rudasill singled, scoring two runs, to give Ridgemont Varsity Gophers the advantage, 5-4.
Kenton Varsity Wildcats took the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fifth thanks to two walks.
Aubrie Overly singled to center field, which helped Ridgemont Varsity Gophers tie the game at six in the top of the sixth.
Kylee Kavanagh earned the win for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Manns took the loss for Ridgemont Varsity Gophers. The pitcher went three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking one. Woodruff appeared in relief for Kenton Varsity Wildcats.
Emori Criner collected two hits for Kenton Varsity Wildcats in four at bats. Alexis Ratliff paced Kenton Varsity Wildcats with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying five walks for the game.
Rudasill provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Ridgemont Varsity Gophers with two runs batted in.
