Kenton Athletic Director Brett Purcell is the recipient of the 2026 Northwest Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NW-OIAAA) Distinguished Service Award. This recognition is given annually to an Athletic Administrator in recognition of their length of service, special accomplishments, and contributions to athletic administration at the local, state, and national levels.
“I would like to thank my fellow Athletic Administrators for this honor,” said Purcell. “I have always appreciated the opportunity to work with all of the wonderful Athletic Administrators in Northwest Ohio and it means a lot to me personally to be recognized by my fellow AD’s with this award”
The award was presented to Purcell on Tuesday, April 28th at the OHSAA Athletic Discussion Meeting and NW-OIAAA Awards ceremony in Tiffin. Brett is in his 15th year as an Athletic Administrator, with the past seven serving as the AD at Kenton High School. He was previously awarded the NW-OIAAA Award of Merit (2023), NW-OIAAA Citation Award (2021), OIAAA Athletic Director of the Year (2019), and Meritorious Service Award (2015). He, and the Kenton Athletic Department also received the Bruce Brown Award of Excellence in 2023.
