The Kenton Boys Tennis team traveled to UNOH in Lima Thursday to compete in the NW District Division 2 Sectional Tournament.
In the Opening Round, Leighton Wirbel defeated Beau Bear 6-3, 6-4 and Ethan McNamara/Jack Whitmer lost to Noah Jostpile/Zane Soloman 2-6, 2-6.
In the 2nd Round, Leighton Wirbel lost to Leyton Staley 0-6, 0-6, Garraden Wirbel lost to Bradey Triplett 6-4, 2-6, 4-6, Seth Spencer defeated Brandon Prater 6-4, 7-5, and Wyatt Campbell/Cale Harshfield defeated Brayden Wright/Bentley Webb 6-0, 6-1.
Seth, Wyatt, and Cale then participated in the quarterfinal round with the opportunity to qualify for the District Tournament. Unfortunately, Seth Spencer lost to Evan Brinkman 0-6, 0-6 and Wyatt Campbell/Cale Harshfield lost to Ollie Chisholm/Korey Klosterman 6-3, 2-6, 1-6.
Kenton’s tennis season is now complete. Again, they finished the regular season 10-5 and the Wbl 6-3 to tie for 3rd place. Combined with the WBL tournament, the Kenton Boy’s team placed 6th overall in the WBL. Congratulation to all the WILDCATS!
